Been hanging around Toronto showing my friends around like a typical tourist and it's been so much fun! Of course it leaves little time for blogging but since I just bought some incredible items that I'll be wearing all fall I had to share.
I picked up the little black and gold purse fom Value Village for a mere $4.99 and it's barely left my sight since & added a pair of white high-top converse to my ever growing shoe collection (you can never have enough shoes: especially not converse!)
I also found this (obviously) FAKE fur key chain at Ardenes (suprising, I know!) and though many oppurtunities to buy similar ones have presented themselves in the last year I was really hung-up on purchasing this in fake fur. Even when fur is "ethical" so it is taken from road kill or animals that were eaten (not wasted just to take their fur) in the big picture you still promote buying fur because people who pass you on the street may not decide to take buy from a source that doesn't promote animal cruelty.
Question of the Week: Do you own fur? Why or why not? Maybe it's too expensive, maybe it's vintage (your mother's or grandmother's maybe?)?
xx, becca
I love your little bag! its the cutest thing in the world! I have two fur coats, one vintage caramel coloured one and one leopard one with a hoodie (both fake fur. Love your blog & now following x

I've been after a FAKE fur fox tail key chain for ages...they appear to be non-existent in the UK which is such a shame. The real ones are beautiful but I really don't like the idea of walking around with an animals tail attached to me...

ReplyDeleteahhh, i love pretending to be a tourist in my own city (: fur is such a difficult issue... i could never buy "new" fur, and i don't think i'd buy vintage fur, but if i were given it by a friend as something they'd had in the family for a while then i'd probably wear it

ReplyDeleteI wear vintage fur, my aunts trench coat with a rabbit fur collar, but I wouldn't buy a new real fur piece, they have such good fakes now :)
It is cool to be a tourist in your home town sometimes. It is fake fur for me too. Xxxxx

great photos, loving the bag with the little fur keychain! Not sure what I think about fur as a whole though, it's an interesting question. I think that maybe if it was vintage I might, but as I don't really think it goes with my aesthetic at the moment I will cross that bridge when I come to it? It's really interesting to see what people and designers are doing with fur these days, vintage, ethically sourced, or not, so thanks for bringing it up!

ReplyDeleteah, this outfit is too cute. I love the color of the skirt and the way you pair it with the grey top!
ReplyDeleteI don't own any fur and I'm pretty much against the idea of slaughtering animals for fashion/ or other crazy reasons. It made sense hundreds of years ago but now that we have other ways of manufacturing warm clothing, its not necessary. However, it you have a vintage piece, I don't think theres a problem.
