Let me tell you, from my personal experience as a petite lady, finding the perfect dress is impossible for a list of reasons that just seems to go on and on. I don't expect to look like the models in the editorials (I've given up at 17, I'm still 5' 1") but I've never had so much difficulty finding a piece that made whatever trend I was into work for me.
My shortened list of difficulties (sans the usual: I'm a teenager and therefor always broke):
- Why does everything seem to be made for people of the exact same height. "Size" seems only to refer to the width of the piece. Excuse me for being informal but: WTF?!
- Though I usually don't mind hemming the piece myself, the fabric is usually delicate and difficult to alter. These dresses are rarely a steal and little mistakes are extremely visible on white fabric.
- That one feature that you absolutely hate. (eg. bow on the back, cheap buttons, stretchy lace, strange embroidery)
- Your size is never in stock. Even if you couldn't afford it, you can't even try it on because lets face it they never have the right size when we need it (my theory: it's those same darn gnomes who steal the socks from the drier!)
